Why is CTTRANSIT involved in demonstrating this project?

CTTRANSIT is committed to improving the health of the environment and the quality of life in the communities it serves. We are determined to find technological solutions to environmental challenges. Using fuel cells instead of fossil fuels could make our air cleaner and decrease our dependence on foreign oil.

FAQs

Why aren’t other Connecticut cities using fuel cell buses?
As the cost comes down we expect to expand our program in the future and anticipate others will start using the technology.  
Where exactly do these new buses operate?
The new buses will operate on most of CTTRANSIT’s local bus routes around greater Hartford.
Have you had any problems with the first fuel cell bus?
We had some problems with the hybrid drive batteries on the first bus we got in 2007. The 2010 buses have state of the art lithium ion batteries which we expect will fully resolve this issue
